How does Spray Tanning Work?    

All of our tanning solutions contain DHA (dihydroxyacetone) as the main tanning ingredient. DHA, when applied to the skin, will blend in and work with the proteins and amino acids in the top layer of your skin to form a nice bronze tan, similar to tanning in the sun. Your skin will begin to darken within 2 to 3 hours after application but will reach peak color at 24 hours after application. Your tan will last from five to ten days, depending on your skin type and activity level.

 

How do I need to prepare for my tanning sessions?

Preparation of your skin is key to your spray tan. Prior to your tan you need to shower, shave and exfoliate your skin. Make sure to use a non-moisturizing soap, such as Ivory or Dial. We suggest you shampoo and condition your hair prior to exfoliating your skin. If you wax instead of shave, please do so the day before your tan. After your shower do not use any lotions, perfumes, deodorant, or makeup. You don't want anything on your skin prior to the spray tan that will cause a barrier to the solution absorbing properly. Please wear or bring dark  loose  fitting clothing and sandals/flip-flops for after your tan.

 

How do I maintain my spray tan?    

After your application you cannot get wet or sweat for 5 hours, otherwise you will streak your tan. You must wait a minimum of 5 hours before taking another shower. When you take your first shower, the cosmetic bronzer that is in the solution will come off.  Don’t panic, it is not your tan running down the drain. Wash your skin gently, do not exfoliate again until you are ready for the tan to come off or preparing for your next spray tan. When you dry off, pat your skin dry, don’t rub. After your shower, moisturize every day, twice a day if possible. You can use any regular moisturizer that you have. If you don’t have any moisturizers, we have several to choose from as well as tan extending moisturizers that will help keep you tan a little longer. It is vital to your tan to moisturize every day. If you don’t moisturize, your skin will become dry and cause the tan to fade patchy instead of evenly.
